That took a while…

by Chris on October 6th, 2011

When I first started playing around with websites on the internet, I thought it would be cool to have my own server to play with. This was when bahuma.dyndns.org was born – sometime in 2001 or 2002.  It was running off a server on my Dads ADSL connection which had a 3 gig cap with speeds of 256/64.

I remember sitting around in the kitchen in Dynnyrne, which was where I was living with some friends, talking about buying a domain name. I put it off because I did not know how it would work with the server and email. Then, it happened. Someone out there bought bahuma.com. Crap! In retalliation, I bought bahuma.net and bahuma.org. I have been the holders of those two domain names since then.

I have watched bahuma.com change a few times. It initially pointed to a graphic design website.  Over the last 5 years, the domain has been with cybersquatters. They purchased the domain with the hope of selling it to someone. That someone would be me. I was not prepared to part with $200-$300. I have kept an eye on the whois of the domain and this year it did not get renewed. I raise an eyebrow. I watch the domain go through the expiry stages….. REDEMPTIONPERIOD….. then PENDINGDELETE…

This morning sometime, the domain dropped. I had GoDaddy Backorder there to pick up the pieces. I am now the owner of bahuma.com.

You may ask “What am I going to do with it?”… Nothing (for now) is the answer to that… it just redirects back to this site :-)
